The Yasargil brain retractor system differs from the Leyla system in its fixation method: rather than mounting to the operating table rail, the Yasargil fixation base clamps directly to the skull clamp or craniotomy margin, placing the flexible arm support point immediately adjacent to the operative field. This provides a shorter, more rigid mechanical pathway from fixation to spatula tip, reducing vibration transmission and improving positional stability of the spatula during microsurgery.

The BLR-294 complete set includes a fixation base for one flexible arm, one flexible arm, and one flat spatula support — everything required to set up a single Yasargil retraction point. The flexible arm is the characteristic braided stainless steel arm that can be shaped to any path and locks rigidly when the locking knob is tightened.
