BP Handle B-2 – Scalpel Handle No. 3L (Long)

The B-2 (No. 3L) is manufactured in surgical-grade stainless steel with a satin finish. The flat body carries a prominent diagonally-patterned knurled grip panel that provides a very positive hold even with wet or gloved hands — an improvement over the basic transverse serrations on the short No. 3. The extended shaft is the key clinical feature: it lets the surgeon reach further into deep wounds, thick tissue planes, or body cavities while keeping the hand and wrist outside the operative field. This makes the No. 3L particularly useful in abdominal and pelvic dissection, bariatric surgery, deep soft-tissue work, and veterinary large-animal procedures. The blade-fitting end is identical to the standard No. 3, so the same #10-series blades (#10, #11, #12, #15 and related) are used — no change in blade inventory is needed when upgrading to the long pattern.
