BP Handle B-9 – Scalpel Handle No. 4 (Slender Variant)
The B Martin BP Handle B-9 is a slender variant of the No. 4 scalpel handle — offering the same large-blade capacity as the standard B-3 No. 4 but in a longer, narrower profile more suited to pen-grip precision work. It gives surgeons the reach of a long handle combined with the heavy blades of the No. 4 range.
The B-9 takes the #20-series blades used by the standard No. 4 (#20, #21, #22, #23, #24, #25, #36) and carries them on a slim extended body that encourages pen-grip control rather than the palm-grip style of the standard flat No. 4. This makes it useful when precision and reach both matter — for example in deep plastic or reconstructive skin incisions, in long obstetric or gynaecological approaches, and for surgeons who simply prefer a slender handle feel even when using a large blade. Manufactured in surgical-grade stainless steel, satin-finished, and fully autoclavable.
Applications & Clinical Uses
Chosen for deep or long procedures where a large #22 or #23 blade must be controlled in a pen grip rather than a palm grip — including deep plastic and reconstructive work, obstetric access, and surgeon-preference cases where the slim long profile is more comfortable than the standard No. 4.
