Large Fragment LCP Instrument Set – 4.5mm & 6.5mm System (BLF-101)

The B Martin Large Fragment LCP Instrument Set (BLF-101) provides every instrument required for locking compression plate fixation of large bone fractures using the 4.5mm cortical and 6.5mm cancellous screw systems. The LCP system’s combination holes allow both locking screws — for angular stability independent of bone quality — and cortical compression screws to be placed in the same plate, making it the standard system for long bone fracture management in modern orthopaedic trauma surgery.

Compared to the small fragment set, the large fragment instruments are dimensionally scaled for the forces encountered in femoral, tibial, humeral, and pelvic surgery. The 240mm self-centering forceps and reduction forceps provide the reach and jaw opening needed to hold and reduce large bone fragments, while the plate bender (large pair) allows intraoperative contouring of large LCP plates to the bone surface. Three quick-coupling bone taps (4.5mm, 5.0mm, 6.5mm) cover all screw thread sizes, and four Q.C. drill bits (3.2mm and 4.5mm in 6 inch and 8 inch lengths) handle the range of cortical thicknesses in large bones. Large Hohmann retractors (18mm and 25mm, 9 inch length) provide the retraction needed for deep exposure in the thigh and leg. All instruments are manufactured from surgical-grade stainless steel using CNC machining and supplied in a graphical aluminium storage and sterilisation case.

Fracture fixation with 4.5mm LCP plates in long bone surgery: femoral shaft and distal femur fractures, tibial plateau and shaft fractures, humeral shaft fractures, proximal humerus, and pelvic ring injuries requiring 4.5mm cortical or 6.5mm cancellous screw fixation. Compatible with all standard 4.5mm narrow and broad LCP plates and DCP plates.
